Paintings By My Grandfather

My grandfather on my mother’s side, Toshiji YOKOYAMA, was a painter. As for his work, he designed posters and wrote letters for advertisements. He passed away when I was a junior high school student. When he was in good health, he took his grandchildren out for lunch on Sunday and we really enjoyed the time. Everyone in my family loved him.

When my mother was cleaning out my grandfather’s house to rebuild it, she found his sketchbooks. The below paintings are his works.

The atmosphere of his works of landscapes, flowers, birds and animals is soft and warm, just like my grandfather. I hope that one day I will be able to paint a warm painting like my grandfather did.
